(19) Many, actually too many, their life endeavour is about power seeking or money making, or both, simultaneously and in combination. For what, and why? And how? I will leave it to scientists and psychologists to answer the first question. Let's just talk about 'how', and go to the bottom of it! In reality, like it or not, the Universal Strategy and Tactics in seeking power or making money is to provide service to help on and to work on people's ignorance and/or inability, one way or another! It is just something natural and normal. But 'Ignorance is the root of all evil!' Service becomes Disservice aside, the worst and the most hazardous is making use of and taking advantage of people's ignorance and inability as if helping them and working for them! Not counting also the frequent irregularities, inconsistencies and never ending unreasoning we usually see before that! Actually beyond NOT doing what is supposed to do! And more than bully! Harming innocent people they don't even see or know! Because, more ignorance and inabilities are often needed, and being created and manipulated in the process! Through making and adding more regulations, rules, and guidelines, and authorities and decisions, whether necessary or related, in exercising them or let them hover around, and in driving perceptions in their application and implementation! Very predatory, and can be very vicious! Perception is actually ignorance that people won't admit as ignorance, especially when self-influenced by what they like or don't like to see and hear, and feel! Together with all the camouflage, justifications and excuses imposed on top! Also by way of media propaganda and distractions purposely to affect, mislead and divert attention! Just to cover up and masquerade further, thereby adding even more ignorance and inability! Not to speak of all the forgetfulness, forgiveness and giving up as being encouraged and promoted, and installed subconsciously, along the line! Ethics, Morals, and Corporate Social Responsibility? All simply disappeared and evaporated! At the end, the most "successful" approach is successful in making people doing it, but not knowing it, and better don't even know what they are doing, yet just think they know! It is the original source for multi facets and multi layers don't care and point finger that added risks and started everything! Now, think it in terms of Risk and Insurance Business, all its "services", its System and Business Model, beyond and more! Then, check against www.Insurtech.com. We learnt. The current Business Model based on trading dollars is old and out! It has to change. There is a better way!

Hi, xxxx,

Don't you agree that taking over a month for coming to your sudden and late renewal position on the subject file is putting very great pressure on us and on the client? And also on this very normal no claim risk that has been "underwritten" by your company for over 10 years? Do you know we have to do re-marketing last minute in the current hard market, besides dealing with understandable and natural difficulties from the client who has been with us for over 30 years? What will be the outcome? Anyway, we are dealing with such pressure now.

I have another example with your company before (x.xxxx xxxxxxxxxx), during soft market 5 years ago, on a risk with a fire claim. Not counting the immense difficulties we encountered in the claim process, the underwriter (manager) wanted us to replace at renewal time also. In that incident, luckily we could do it almost overnight.

Thanks.

Hi xxxxxx,

We have explored all avenues and this is the best pricing we can offer and we do not have the capacity for location X (xxxx x.xxxxxxxx xx) and require that it be placed elsewhere.

Hi, xxxx,

Thanks for reply. I might be just talking about history now! Yet, even though history itself is of "no use", it is important! I thought about it. My point is, why did you think (and how did you derive) that the rates are "still priced well below where it shoud be"? What rates do you think is priced right, seriously? Need ever more and more increases? Perhaps until the point or the day we simply stand to lose the account (or any account) due to price?

Your company have been on this account for over 10 years, we had it for over 30 years, and your company have been increasing prices in all the years! From "inflationary factor" of 3% - 5% onwards in the early days, when inflation was only 1%, or even less than 1%! With no loss on the file too, ever! And also through many underwriters before you, along the line! And now, in addition to that, no more capacity for renewal?

So, are we supposed to just face the possibility (or risk) of losing our business, one by one, simply just like that? For nothing? This is part of a seasoned account as a whole! Therefore, at the end, possibly, we will probably have no more business to talk about anymore! What would you think? Does anybody care? Have you done what you can and also to the best you can? How do our accounts, and actually this account, compared to other similar risks on your book? Say, from bigger broker, or smaller than us, business volume wise? Insurance business is about business volume and size, or about the risk being written and under consideration? The funny part that might happen is, the same risk could simply come back to your company through another "channel" or "relationship", somehow, or one day, and even at less price! Then, why do we have to go through all these in the first place? Shouldn't we spend our efforts and concentrate to develop more new business instead?

Anyway, not only for us, but I think clients will learn and begin to think too! That explains about this business, and many other issues that are even beyond you and me! Would you be able to help on it with reasons?

I must ask you to re-consider and advise.

Thanks.

Hi xxxxxx,

I have provided our best pricing for this risk. We require the increased rates as this policy is still priced well below where it should be even with the one location removed.

Thanks, xxxxi, that would help, and better to extend even 45 days or 60 days.

But also, I have NOT looked closely at your renewal rates yet, but just briefly on the bottomline, it seems the client will have to pay almost the same premium as last year for one location less!

I must ask you to re-consider and advise.

Don't you think we got to be reasonable in doing business?

Thanks. xxxxxx xxx

Hi xxxxxx,

I appreciate that this creates a challenge for you and your client, however we do not have the capacity to stay on risk for this location. We can offer a 1 month extension (Feb 1/21) on the current terms to allow you time to have coverage placed elsewhere. Let me know if you will require the extension.

Hi, xxxx,

This account been with your company for over 10 years. All stable. With less than 10 working days to renewal, only now you tell me your renewal position? Is it reasonable? Isn't it making things difficult for us and for the client?

The xxxx xxxx xxxxxxxx location, for us, it has been clean all these years. We must ask you to reconsider.

You cannot write the xxxxxxx xxxxxxx and xxxxxx xxxxxx locations, which is fine, you have no obigation to entertain the request, but I think, at least, you should help settle the renewal.

As you know, we presented the case to you on 6 xxxxxxxx, 20xx!

Please advise.

Thanks.

Hi xxxxxx,

I have fully reviewed this account and have found that we have a significant capacity issue with respect to location xx (xxxx x.xxxxxxxx xx). We require that coverage be placed elsewhere for this location as was are not able to remain on risk. We will be taking action on other accounts in this area as well.

I have attached our best renewal terms with respect to the remaining locations for your review. I've reviewed the rating and we do require rate increases on this policy as it is currently still priced well below where it should be.

With respect to the other two locations, xxxx-xxxx xxxxxxxx and xxxx xxxxxxx xx, we are unfortunately not able to assist as we do not have capacity.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

URGENT and IMPORTANT

Hi, xxxxxxx,

I don't know whether the subject renewal file was supposed to be handled by xxxx xxxxxxxxxx, per your company internal work system, or you simply passed onto her on xxxxxxxx 6, 20xx, but the fact is, I have NOT heard anything further from her since her email of 27 xxxxxxxx, 20xx! In between, 21 days of precious time have transpired/lapsed!

The client sent in the value information on 15 xxxxxxx, 20xx. I purposely delayed it, because it was too early for renewal!

The client has been calling and calling about it since...............! Today is 10 xxxxxxxx, 20xx. I followed it up with an email this morning.

What are we supposed to do? We are not the underwriter. We have no authority. And of course, we have no "pen" either!

Can you imagine and sympathize the kind of frustrations and worries we are dealing with?

The sad part is, we dare not put pressure on other people or anybody, we just hope if people can just do their job properly and accordingly to the best they can, because we are afraid the end result might become even worse for us and for our client, but for nothing, and actually will make us lose this old and long term account, and in a way, it seems we are just being held ransom on our business! And things are totally out of our control!

xxxxxxx, would you please kindly follow it up for us with xxxx xxxxxxxxxx, subtly and tactfully?

We just want to deal with this tough good client, asap!

As you know, we are always reasonable and professional in our dealings.

Thanks.
xxxxxx xxx
